"Sending out notifications for various tasks has saved us lots of time with comms. It’s really good!"
– Hannah Smith, Mail Services Manager
Sky is a British media and telecommunications conglomerate, Europe’s largest media company, and pay-TV broadcaster. Employing over 31,000 people across the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, and Spain, they have their West London headquarters, where approximately 10,000 individuals are engaged in and around the company’s studios.
Given the vastness of their campus, the company’s mailroom operation is notably busy and demanding. Within a team of 13, three members bear the sole responsibility of ensuring that the 300-400 incoming packages received daily reach the intended recipients.
"Previous system was full of glitches and would often crash, losing jobs in the system"
Sky was experiencing issues with their old mailroom software. The previous system was plagued with glitches and would often crash, resulting in lost jobs within the system.
Visibility of the status of current shipments was also a concern for the mailroom. Items would sometimes simply disappear from the display, making it difficult to track parcels over the extensive site.
"It’s a great system. The booking-in process is simple and friendly, and the software is easy to adapt to the demands of your business."
– Hannah Smith, Mail Services Manager
Our system implementation was straightforward and swiftly adopted across the London campus. On-site deliveries were logged, triggering automatic email notifications to recipients. Parcels were directed to the main mailroom or kiosk based on the recipient’s location. MetApp facilitated mobile logging, creating a seamless chain of custody on the go.
The system’s in-depth track and trace were advantageous. Adding relevant tracking information quickly provided a readily accessible audit log for operatives. For customer-facing staff, query resolution during goods collection was expedited. The customisable system enhanced internal communications, with automatic notifications ensuring colleagues were informed of deliveries.
Additionally, it saved time by automating resource-heavy processes, allowing controllers to identify overdue items for collection. Following Osterley’s success, two more Sky sites in Scotland use Metafour’s software, enabling seamless accountability, streamlined operations, and heightened user satisfaction.
